Why cannot we see replays of the High School basketball and hockey games on Channel 22? I know the parents invest a lot of time and money filming these games and I think the community enjoys watching these also!
Great idea - not sure if had ever been requested before. I sent the request to Mark Mason yesterday afternoon (2/9) and got a 'yes' response within an hour. You should see last night's game mixed in with the schedule starting today. Thanks!
Is channel 22 run from Scituate High? Who's in charge of programing and keeping everything running? Is it a paid position? It seems like there are some great programs shown, and this schedule is a great help to keep on top of current programs. Maybe something could be set up like Channel 10 so that news about the schools and the program schedule could be seen in between programs. I'd also like to mention that a schedule that showed the same mixture of programming all week might expose itself more to the community then the same program repeating over and over for 24 hours. With services like YouTube providing free video hosting (and the SPS website might be able to handle the task, too) it might make sense to start putting the programs online. Wouldn't it be nice to connect to a school committee meeting online, watch what you'd like to watch, skip over what you aren't interested in, and best of all, know that you're watching it from the start, and not the same random spot the meeting seems to be at whenever you channel surf.
Just some thoughts. Would love to see the schedule updated each week online, though. Maybe the schedule should appear on the SPS site, as well?
Channell 22 is run from Scituate High School via a 5 disk DVD player. Bill Williams, who heads up the Technology for the High School, is in charge of it and does most of the programming outside of normal working hours (out of the goodness of his heart!).
VOLUNTEERS are needed to allow for the expansion of programming and features. Having people interested and qualified to assist would allow for much more creative and informative programming.
The schedule is currently being run with the same show for 24 hours to get folks caught up on what they may not have seen. Having the programs randomly shuffle makes it difficult for someone who wants to plan to watch a particular meeting.
Bill is more than flexible about what is shown (now featuring SHS basketball) and how things are managed. He just needs help.
CSI: Scituate hopes to produce some programs for Channell 22 when things slow down a bit.
As for the YouTube service, it is the first we are hearing of it. We will research it and pass it on to Bill and Mr. Mason. It would be a great tool if it is free and hooks up to the system in place.
I am sure the schedule can be posted to the school website as well. Thanks for the suggestions and please contact us at csiscituate@yahoo.com if you are interested in helping out in any way!
